We knew this was going to be a long day so we left our hotel before 8am. We walked along the coast and then crossed the river in the background into the town of Esposenda
Todays route.
Todays Route. This was a complete change from the previous walks as finally moved inland. We walked through some beautiful forests and quiet villages as well as some hills. This was our longest walk for some time with a distance of 20 miles and 1300 ft of climbing.
Getting stamps for your Credencial (Pilgrims Passport) is an essential part of the Camino. This church outside Esposende even had someone to do the stamping for you, as well as an impressive embossing stamp.
It was a nice change to have some hills and woods. The terrain was a bit rough at times too.
This bridge in the woods was lovely. We were tempted to have a swim
This was the view from the top of our last hill. The city of Viano do Castelo was in sight, although it turned out to be a long slog to finally arrive
The last challenge of the day was the bridge over the River Limia. We were in procession with many other weary pilgrims arriving into town.
